Best Practices for Qt Programming (25:25)
Since Qt is a comprehensive toolkit with many features, it frequently offers numerous solutions for a given problem, which may leave the novice Qt programmer at a loss as to which features to use and when. This webcast addresses this problem with a collection of 21 of the best programming practices for developing Qt applications. Our speaker is Christopher Probst, a member of the ICS Qt consulting staff. Christopher has been working with Qt since 2001. Before joining ICS, Chris contributed to the development of the Qt user-interface of the Asus Eee PC, developing applications to make it more user-friendly, like the First Run Wizard that greets you when you first turn on the machine.

The Model-View Framework (40:19)
Qt’s Model-View Framework is a design pattern that makes it easy to create and show lists, tables, and trees of data. For this webcast we have a special guest speaker, Johan Thelin. Johan is the author of the book “Foundations of Qt Development” and he also wrote “The Independent Qt Tutorial.” He has been working with Qt since 2000 and currently works with Bitsim – a Swedish microelectronics company – where he focuses on embedded systems.

What's New in Qt 4.4 (26:40)
This presentation highlights the new features of Qt 4.4, including: webkit integration, the phonon multimedia framework, enhanced XML support, and more. The instructor is Jeff Tranter, the manager of the ICS consulting staff. Jeff has over 25 years of experience developing software on platforms from small embedded systems to servers. He was part of the team that developed Corel Linux and was one of the founding members of Xandros, where he led the team that developed the KDE-based Xandros desktop, and more recently the desktop for the popular ASUS Eee PC.

The GraphicsView Framework (47:52)
Qt's GraphicsView provides a higher level of graphical abstraction and reuse than QPainter alone. This talk covers how it can efficiently manage a large number of standard and custom graphics items, with support for zooming, transformations, and animations. The instructor is David Johnson, a member of the ICS consulting staff. David has been writing software with the Qt framework since 1998. He is active in the open source community and has contributed to the award-winning KDE desktop.
